Introduction

Each May, NYCxDESIGN transforms New York into a decentralised design capital, with exhibitions, fairs, showroom launches, talks, receptions and cultural programming unfolding across the city. The official festival runs from 14 to 20 May, with some exhibitions beginning earlier or continuing beyond the core week, making the programme as layered as the city itself.

For 2026, the most compelling thread is not scale alone, but experience. Across Manhattan and Brooklyn, design is being presented through mood, materiality, craft and atmosphere, from residential-style installations and collectible design galleries to luxury showrooms and sensory brand environments.

For The Fluxx, this guide is not intended as an exhaustive directory. It is a curated editorial selection, built around the spaces, studios and events that feel most aligned with our design-led lens: craftsmanship, interiors, collectible design, cultural storytelling and the way spaces are actually lived.

The Fluxx Showroom Edit

Sip, Savor & Discover: Original BTC x Buchanan Studio

SoHo | 15 May, 6-8pm

NYC x Design show. original BTC and Buchanan Design1-2400x1350

A refined, invitation-led activation bringing together British lighting and contemporary interior design. Original BTC’s craft-led lighting language meets Buchanan Studio’s layered, mood-rich interiors perspective, making this a natural fit for a design audience interested in atmosphere as much as object.

Its hospitality-led format also reflects a wider shift in showroom culture. The most successful design spaces now operate less like static displays and more like lived environments, where light, material, conversation and hosting become part of the experience.

Calico Wallpaper: Design as a Sensory Language

Calico Wallpaper Showroom | NYCxDESIGN 2026

Calico-Wallpaper_Luminous_Emanate_Horizontal NYC x Design

Calico Wallpaper’s NYCxDESIGN programme centres on a conversation between architect Suchi Reddy and Surface Magazine’s David Graver, timed with the debut of Luminous, Reddy’s wallpaper collection with Calico Wallpaper. The collection explores light, colour and atmosphere through immersive compositions, connecting surface design with neuroaesthetics and wellbeing.

For The Fluxx, this is exactly the kind of showroom moment that matters: visual, intellectual and spatial. It places wallpaper beyond decoration, positioning it as part of how environments shape perception and feeling.

Salvatori Showroom Experience

SoHo | 14-20 May, 10am-6pm

NYC x Design show. salvatori_headerimage-

Italian stone specialist Salvatori brings a material-led perspective to the week, opening its SoHo showroom for a closer look at natural surfaces, architectural form and contemporary craftsmanship. Within the context of NYCxDESIGN, it adds a strong interiors and materiality layer.

This is a particularly relevant stop for architects, interior designers and anyone interested in how stone can move from surface to sculptural presence. The showroom experience reinforces the growing importance of tactile luxury in contemporary spaces.

Frette Showroom Activation

Upper Madison Avenue | 14-20 May, 10am-6pm

Frette brings a softer, more tactile register to the festival. Known for its heritage in fine linens, the brand’s showroom activation introduces a world of textile refinement, bedroom dressing and quiet luxury within the broader design programme.

Its inclusion helps balance the edit, showing that NYCxDESIGN is not only about furniture and objects, but the full sensory architecture of interiors, from surface and lighting to the fabrics that shape private rituals of living.

Flos Showroom Programme

New York | NYCxDESIGN 2026

NYC x Design show. flos_theglowingtrack_cover-francesca-papagni-

Flos remains one of the key international names in contemporary lighting, balancing heritage icons with new design thinking. During NYCxDESIGN, its showroom presence offers an important lighting-led anchor for visitors tracing how illumination shapes atmosphere, architecture and mood.

For a Fluxx audience, Flos sits in the sweet spot between product design and spatial emotion. It is a brand moment that belongs in a showroom-led guide because lighting is increasingly central to how interiors are understood and experienced.

Porada refreshes its NoMad showroom one year after opening, presenting a renewed environment inspired by the spirit of Casa Porada. The display focuses on signature craftsmanship, refined materials and a residential approach to showing furniture.

The presentation includes pieces from the latest collections, with a particular focus on the 2025 collection. Warm atmospheres, sophisticated materials and a sense of Italian domesticity make this a strong stop for those seeking craftsmanship-led furniture design.

Féau Boiseries Presents: The Art of Wood Paneling

D&D Building | Upper East Side | 14-20 May, 10am-5pm

Féau Boiseries offers one of the most refined interiors-led experiences of the week, inviting visitors into seven period rooms and an exploration of decorative wood paneling. Founded in 1875, the family-run Parisian house is known for antique woodwork, ornamentation, tailor-made décors, intricate mouldings and handcrafted fireplaces.

Within a festival often associated with contemporary experimentation, Féau introduces permanence, heritage and architectural detail. The New York showroom translates the spirit of the Paris atelier into an immersive environment for interior designers, collectors and clients seeking exceptional craftsmanship.

Gessi and the Global Brand Layer

New York | NYCxDESIGN 2026

Alongside independent studios and galleries, NYCxDESIGN is increasingly shaped by global design brands using the week for private previews, showroom activations and immersive presentations. Names such as Gessi add a distinctly architectural layer, particularly around bathroom design, wellness and the evolution of luxury interiors.

Gessi’s presence speaks to a wider shift in the market. Bathrooms, kitchens and lifestyle spaces are no longer treated as purely functional zones, but as design-led environments where atmosphere, ritual and material intelligence converge.

Collectible & Conceptual

In My Dreams All the Furniture Is Dancing

American Thread Building, 260 W Broadway, 11B, TriBeCa | 15 May, 7-10pm

NYC x Design show. inmydreamsallthfurniturearedancing_headerimage-

Curated by Aurore Vullierme and Crina Arghirescu Rogard, this art and design exhibition is set within the residence of painter Claudia Doring Baez, designed by Rogard. The exhibition gathers artists and designers in a setting where furniture, painting and space drift between function and dream.

It is one of the more poetic propositions in the programme, with a private-residence context that immediately distinguishes it from a standard showroom presentation. For The Fluxx, it offers the kind of narrative-rich, visually imaginative environment that bridges interiors, art and atmosphere.

The first of two presentations during Gallery FUMI's three-month New York residency, Materials of Joy marks the latest chapter in directors Sam Pratt and Valerio Capo's deliberate US expansion — following stops in Los Angeles and Chicago.

Invisible Collection presents Rooms of Wonder, curated to mark an exclusive collaboration with Droulers Architecture. Set within the Upper East Side gallery, the exhibition unfolds as a series of intimate tableaus where art and design coexist with the feeling of a collector’s home.

The presentation includes works by Maison Leleu and one-of-a-kind creations by laureates of the Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour l’Intelligence de la Main. It is a sophisticated interiors moment, rich with craft, Art Deco resonance and French ensemblier tradition.

Cosmo Nova is an immersive installation by Métaphores and ATRA, created through a dialogue between Emilie Paralitici and Alexander Diaz Andersson. Inspired by space, nature and imagined worlds, it uses textiles, light and form to create a suspended environment.

The project is conceived as a poetic pause within the pace of the city. It brings surface, architecture and sensory experience together, making it a strong inclusion for readers interested in the emotional and atmospheric potential of interiors.

Osanna Visconti di Modrone at Maison Gerard

Greenwich Village | 20 May, 6-8pm

NYC x Design show. osanna-visconti-di-modrones

Maison Gerard’s presentation of Osanna Visconti di Modrone brings a refined European craft perspective to the week. Known for sculptural bronze furniture and objects, Visconti di Modrone’s work sits elegantly between design, sculpture and decorative art.

Within the wider NYCxDESIGN programme, this offers a quieter but highly sophisticated gallery moment, ideal for audiences drawn to craftsmanship, material depth and collectible forms with a strong artistic voice.

“Inca City” by Sébastien Léon at Ralph Pucci

Ralph Pucci | New York | NYCxDESIGN 2026

discoverincacitywithsebastienleon_headerimage

Sébastien Léon’s Inca City at Ralph Pucci brings a sculptural, architectural sensibility into one of New York’s most influential design galleries. Ralph Pucci remains a key cultural anchor for the week, bridging fashion, art, interiors and collectible design.

For The Fluxx, this is especially relevant given previous coverage of Ralph Pucci. It allows the feature to build continuity with existing editorial while highlighting a presentation that feels bold, artistic and spatially powerful.

RALPH PUCCI

44 West 18th Street, Floor 12, New York NY 10011.

For a tighter route, pair SoHo and Greenwich Village for showroom and material-led stops, then move uptown for Upper Madison Avenue and the Upper East Side galleries. NoMad offers a strong furniture and lighting thread, while Tribeca is ideal for more atmospheric, residential-style exhibitions.
