Lee Broom Unveils ‘Cascade’ with Lladró at Milan Design Week 2025
Lee Broom, one of the most celebrated lighting designers of his generation, continues to redefine the boundaries of contemporary design with the unveiling of Cascade, a new porcelain lighting collection created in collaboration with Lladró — the globally renowned masters of artistic porcelain.
Presented as part of Salone del Mobile during Milan Design Week 2025, Cascade marks a significant new chapter in Broom’s creative journey. Set within a striking immersive installation conceived by the designer himself, the debut is not only a showcase of a new collection, but a testament to the emotional power of light and material.
The Cascade series reveals a poetic tension between tradition and innovation — merging Lladró’s exquisite craftsmanship with Broom’s forward-thinking, modernist sensibility. Crafted from pure white porcelain, the collection’s clean geometry is defined by spherical and cylindrical forms, accentuated with meticulously refined horizontal and vertical lines. At rest, the pieces appear minimalist and sculptural. But when illuminated, they are transformed — their translucency revealing a soft amber glow, reminiscent of candlelight, intimate and atmospheric.
The installation plays with one of Broom’s signature visual devices: the mirror. Drawing visitors into an introspective space filled with light and reflection, Broom has constructed an optical illusion of endless lanterns, suspended in celebratory clusters. It’s a joyful and contemplative gesture, inspired by commemorative displays of light — where hanging lanterns symbolise hope, memory, and wonder.
What’s most remarkable is Broom’s exploration of the porcelain medium itself. Inspired by traditional methods yet determined to challenge convention, he pushes the material to new levels of fluidity, balance, and translucence — transforming it into something unmistakably contemporary. Cascade doesn’t simply illuminate a space — it creates an atmosphere, a moment, a mood.
At Fluxx, we’ve long admired Lee Broom’s work — not only for its elegance and innovation but for the way it consistently evolves while staying true to his unmistakable design voice. Watching his creative path unfold over the years has been nothing short of inspiring. Cascade is not just a collaboration; it is a convergence of vision, material, and emotion — a highlight of this year’s Milan Design Week.
