Inside the Global Restaurant Empires Landing in LDN, Dubai, Miami, LA & NYC

From Carbone to Nobu, Zuma to Gymkhana: the hospitality groups turning a single hit restaurant into a worldwide address book, and where they are opening next.

A booking at Carbone in the West Village used to be the whole story. Now it is one address among nine. The most successful restaurant groups of the last decade have stopped thinking like restaurateurs and started thinking like luxury brands and experiences: a signature room, a repeatable design language, and a rollout across the cities their guests already move between.

For THE FLUXX reader, The Zuma you love in Mayfair has a sibling in Miami. The Gymkhana table you cannot get in London may be easier to land in Las Vegas. Here is the current map of the groups worth knowing, and where each one is landing next. Enjoy.

The Global Restaurant Empires Every Luxury Traveller Should Know

Nobu Hospitality

Founded in 1994 by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, Nobu has grown from a single Beverly Hills sushi counter into a brand with more than fifty restaurants and dozens of hotels across five continents. London (Old Park Lane, 1997) was the first outpost outside the US, and the portfolio has since spread to Shoreditch and Portman Square, New York (Fifty Seven and Downtown), Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto and Atlanta. Dubai carries two addresses: the original Palm Jumeirah room and Nobu by the Beach at Atlantis The Royal. There is no Nobu-branded restaurant in Paris, but sister concept Matsuhisa Paris, designed by Philippe Starck, has served the city from Le Royal Monceau since 2016.

Opening next: a Manchester restaurant, hotel and residences at Viadux 2, a hotel on Barbuda, and a Bellevue, Washington restaurant and residences project slated for 2027, Nobu's first US residential development, with Miami and Orlando residences to follow.

A London Carbone has also landed in Mayfair, alongside sister brand Sadelle's, which spans New York, Paris, Las Vegas, Miami, Dallas, Boca Raton and Riyadh.

Opening next: MFG has more than twenty new openings in the last two years alone and shows no sign of slowing, with Carbone Dubai marking its most recent addition to the map.

Coya, the Peruvian concept launched in London in 2012, has since opened in Mayfair, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the City of London, Monte Carlo, Marbella, Mykonos, Doha, Riyadh, Muscat and Barcelona. La Petite Maison, the French Mediterranean original that opened in London in 2007, now spans ten locations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Miami, Riyadh, Doha, Hong Kong and Boston.

The design-led contenders: Casa Cruz, Amazónico, Sexy Fish & Mr Chow

Not every global name is chasing scale for its own sake. This shorter-form group trades on interiors and atmosphere as much as footprint, and between them they now cover most of THE FLUXX reader's key cities. Casa Cruz, the Notting Hill original, opened a New York townhouse on the Upper East Side in 2022. Amazónico, the Madrid-born jungle-themed concept from Sandro Silva and Marta Seco, spans London, Dubai, Monte Carlo and Madrid, with a three-floor Miami debut in Brickell opening in September 2026. Sexy Fish, already featured on THE FLUXX, has grown from its Mayfair original into a four-city brand with Manchester, Miami's Brickell district and a Dubai DIFC opening. Mr Chow, the Chinese fine-dining institution founded in London in 1968, now spans London, New York, Beverly Hills, Miami, Riyadh and Dubai, making it the strongest Los Angeles entry in this closing line-up.
