The Christmas Jewellery Gifts Worth Giving: SIX Design-Led Brands Under £350

Sculptural, considered and made to be kept. These are the independent jewellery brands THE FLUXX rates for festive gifting, each with pieces under £350.

Jewellery is the one Christmas gift that tends to outlast the wrapping, the season and often the decade. The difficulty is finding a piece with real design behind it at a price that still feels like a gift, not a statement of intent.

When we featured Jude Benhalim, the Cairo-based designer who founded her label at 17, it became one of our most popular features. The appeal was clear: architectural shapes, handmade in gold-dipped brass and silver, at around £175 for a ring or a pair of earrings.

This is the wider edit in that spirit. Seven brands from London, Copenhagen & Athens, chosen for form, material and craftsmanship, each offering festive gifting ideas under £350. Think of them as small-scale objects of design, as carefully resolved as a good lamp or a hand-thrown vase.

Completed Works, London

Founded by Anna Jewsbury, Completedworks treats jewellery as sculpture. Its folded, twisted and draped forms are handcrafted in recycled sterling silver and finished in gold vermeil, often with a freshwater pearl suspended where you least expect it. This is the closest in sensibility to a piece of contemporary design, and the one to choose for someone who notices the shape of a door handle.

Zirconia and Recycled Silver Earrings, £255.

Alighieri, London

Rosh Mahtani founded Alighieri in 2014 after studying French and Italian literature, and every piece is inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. Each is cast in recycled bronze by lost-wax casting in Hatton Garden, London's jewellery quarter, then plated in 24ct gold. The finish is deliberately battered and imperfect, which is exactly why these read as heirlooms and why they make such a strong Christmas gift for the person who values a story.

Lié Studio, Copenhagen

Twin sisters Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard design Lié Studio in Copenhagen with the restraint you would expect of Danish design. Rounded, weighty hoops, knots and beaded drops come in sterling silver or 18ct gold plate, and they are made to be worn daily, not saved for best. A reliable choice when you are buying for someone whose taste runs to clean lines and good materials

Bar Jewellery, London

Bar's pieces begin as dripped molten wax, which gives them their soft, flowing lines before they are cast in recycled sterling silver and plated in gold. Everything is handmade and finished by artisans in London, in small quantities. The result is quiet, tactile and architectural: jewellery for people who prefer a single considered piece to a stack.

Shaun Leane , London

Shaun Leane began as a 16-year-old apprentice in Hatton Garden and spent 13 years training as a goldsmith before Alexander McQueen asked him to make jewellery for his second show in 1995. The partnership lasted 17 years and produced some of fashion's most arresting objects, among them the coiled aluminium corset for The Overlook in 1999. His own house now channels that fierce romance into pieces you can actually wear: the Black Orchid collection sets sculpted buds and petals against talon-like curves in sterling silver and yellow gold vermeil. The gift for someone who likes their elegance with an edge.

Photography, top left hook earrings, large, single £155. Top right, black orchid flower earrings, £350.

Gift guide: Black Orchid bud studs from £150, bud hoops from £175.

Otiumberg , London

Sisters Rosanna and Christie Wollenberg built Otiumberg around the idea of the everyday staple done properly. Sculpted hoops, pebble drops and pearl-set huggies are hand-finished in 14ct gold vermeil on recycled sterling silver. These are the pieces that get worn most, which makes them some of the safest Christmas jewellery gifts you can buy.

Photography top left, Heart Knocker Ring, mixed materials, £255. Top right, interlock bracelet, mixed metals, £150.

Gift guide: prices from £110.

If You Are Spending More: The Investment Pieces

For a milestone Christmas, four names sit a tier above. Sophie Buhai's sterling silver, handmade in Los Angeles and indebted to Brancusi and Georgia O'Keeffe, starts at £465 for earrings and rises past £700. Charlotte Chesnais in Paris makes looping, gravity-defying vermeil forms, with prices from £340. By Pariah, founded in London by Sophie Karg, sets raw and carved stones in recycled 14ct gold, from £295 for a quartz pendant to several thousand for a ring. And for a direct line back to Cairo, Azza Fahmy remains the grande dame of Egyptian jewellery, working in silver and gold with calligraphy and pharaonic motifs.

Editor's Pick: Alighieri's gold-plated medallion necklaces, from £225, are the gift most likely to be worn every day and kept for good.
